THE MEANING OF LIFE

This sermon series aims to tackle the question of meaning and purpose in life. From the Westminster Shorter Catechism, “To glorify God and enjoy Him forever,” is the short answer that we will be returning to throughout the series. We will also be examining how this answer expresses itself in different areas of life.

BUILDING BLOCKS OF THE CHRISTIAN LIFE

As is typical of this time of year, we will spend four weeks looking at the essentials of our faith and our lives as Christians. This year we are going to revisit the series we did a few years ago while in quarantine, but this time we’ll get to do it in person!

PROVERBS

We hope this series will enable you to look at life through God’s eyes and live accordingly.

GALATIANS

Remember the freedom you have in Christ.

NOW WHAT?

This series is about dealing with the difficult things in life, and learning how to respond to them in a Biblical way. When major events happen, when our life undergoes a titanic shift, sometimes we feel lost, and we end up asking ourselves, Now What? Ultimately, the answer to all of these questions is “seek God”, in some variation.

PETER'S LETTERS

A Series in the Books of 1st and 2nd Peter

BURNING BRIGHT

Burning Bright is a vision-focused series, centering around our role as church members and promoting buy-in to the vision and mission of our church.

UNWRAPPING THE NAMES OF JESUS

Advent sermon series, the anticipated roles of Jesus: Savior, Prophet, King, Judge. Use the Old Testament to talk about how these roles were anticipated, and the New Testament for how they are implemented.

BIG QUESTIONS

There comes a season for most Christians when personal faith is challenged by doubts and questions. Much of our New Testament is comprised of letters written to Christian churches in order to answer their questions. In this riveting seven-message series, we boldly tackle the following Big Questions to help us better understand the firm foundation of Christianity.

THE FOUR ELEMENTS

The Four Elements series breaks the Christian life into four elements, and notices how those elements form the basis of our Sunday morning church experience. Through the essential lenses for life – PRAISE, WORD, SERVICE and PRAYER, let’s view our Sunday mornings as a microcosm of our Christian lives, where all the pieces that normally make up our living sacrifices come together at their most acute, and also to view Sunday as instructive for how the rest of our lives should prioritize.

THE BOOK OF COLOSSIANS

Here is a series of messages based on The Book of Colossians. Colossians is a letter written by Paul to Christians in Colosse. It is the 7th letter of Paul placed in the middle of his 14 letters to churches and church leaders. In this series, we are going to go through chapter by chapter through the book.

THE UNKNOWN

This series focuses on individuals, people from the Bible who are either unknown, or mixed up in our minds.  They are people whose names may not be recorded or who may be overshadowed and relegated to background figures.  But they play an important role in God’s master plan and still made a difference for God.  We want to look at these people and their lives for inspiration on how we can live for God, even when we feel like unknown background characters in the story.

Somewhere in Advent Time

We travel back in time to see the old Christmas stories with our new eyes today through this new four-week sermon season.

This series is going to focus on individuals, people from the Bible who are either unknown, or mixed up in our minds. They are people whose names may not be recorded or who may be overshadowed and relegated to background figures, but who play an important role anyway and still made a difference for God. We want to look at these people and their lives for inspiration on how we can live for God, even when we feel like unknown background characters in the story.

The Seven Deadly Sins

The Seven Deadly Sins are not a concept from the Bible, but from Christian tradition. They are named “deadly” because they directly lead to more sin, or so is the claim. Whether or not this is true, or whether there should be more sins on the list is not the issue. The seven deadly sins are a useful tool to talk about the sin in our lives, and the opposite virtue to which God calls and empowers us. With this seven-week sermon series, one for each of the seven deadly sins, to examine what the Bible has to say about them, about how they show up in our lives, and of how God has equipped us to fight against them. Special emphasis should be placed on the opposing virtue, such that the overall tone of the series will be of being called TO something, of hope and power, rather than a general tone of condemnation

This is Us

This is our “back to basics” series, as we look at the below values statement of Elim Chapel. Each week, the values we are sharing will link back to the idea that we are all here to be part of what is going on, not simply as audience members.

  • We Love God
  • We Love People and We Value Relationships
  • We Are Compassionate and We Share The Good News Of Jesus Christ
  • We Bring Our Best and We Are All Learners

The Fruit of the Spirit

Listed in Galatians 5, the Fruit of the Spirit is one of the most well-known passages of scripture. As followers of Christ, these Fruit provide important reference points for us to gauge our development as we are conformed to the image of the Son.

Galatians 5:22-23. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
